I think I've only ever been detected once while running them at night. Just fyi though, Sector 0 rooftops are 99% safe. Just have to keep an eye on your boosters and be ready to refresh them once they wear off. Once you get comfortable with this, you'll find the time of day doesn't mean a whole lot. Dip into a safe zone to clear the chase and catch your breath every now and again. Just pop your boosts, vault/stun a Volatile and run, climb, vault you way around while they (and their friends) chase you. When you get a bit more practice, I'd suggest playing Volatile Tag with them until you are comfortable being outside at night. I use Nightvision Boosters + Speed Boosters for an easy time at night. It is extremely easy to avoid Volatiles and other nasties in the dark after some practice. You have to pay attention to the mini-map (if you're playing on Normal) so you can see their locations and the cone for their Line of Sight. The building directly across from that building is one though.ĭon't bother fighting at night unless you have really buffed weapons. However, where you find Dawud's son in Old Town, isn't a safe house. Lastly, the Bites Motel never has a green map icon, even though you unlock the safe zone as part of a quest, and it remains a safe zone, complete with sleeping bag, stash, and vendor. The Red Flowers Cafe in the Slums, where you find Yasmina's son, Jamil, becomes a safe zone that doesn't have a green icon, and doesn't contain either sleeping bag or stash, but it remains a safe zone even after the quest. ![]() They also stop being safe zones, and disappear after specific progress in both quests. Fort Jefferson, and Shakur's house, are safe zones during a period of time, and they won't appear as green safe zone map icons. Zere's Trailer compound, and the Ferry Harbor, are all safe zones for a time, and then after specific game progress, they stop being safe zones, and their green icons disappear. Since quest related safe zone information might be considered spoilers The ones that don't are quest related safe zones, and after specific quest progress they also may disappear later in the game. It is true that not all safe zones are marked on the map with either the red or green house icon. ![]() If you have a safe zone marked by a red icon, (needs to be unlocked), or one which you've unlocked, and is a green icon, they should all be identifiable with icons throughout the game. I also strongly advise the night vision booster, night walks kind of suck without them. Make sure to use your survivor sense every so often so you have situational awareness. Going out at night is not a big deal, just move to another one. If that experience turned you off of going out at night, believe me, that little stupid story-based stunt was three times harder than any standard little night romp.Īnyway, back on point: go to another safe zone. Ironically, the very first time you had to run at night (right after you burn some antizin because the old lady told you to), is by far the hardest night escape you'll ever have, because 1) the volatile is aggroed on you by force, 2) you have no flares, 3) you can't backlash, and 4) it's a long way to the towers unless you unlocked the closest one. ![]() If you DO get spotted, all you need to do is chuck a flare or two, use a trap or two, and sprint to a safe zone. The Volatiles have a small sight range, and you have plenty of time to GTFO when you see the icon of one having noticed you. That being said, going out at night is no big deal. Some safe zones are quest or world based ones that exist to help a narrative and don't necessarily have one. Every safe zone that you take the time to unlock should have a bed.
